With the intention to combat extreme poverty, CHRAPA, OCAPROCE International, the Moroccan and Brazilian Permanent Missions to the UN in Geneva, from the 5th to the 7th of November 2018, at the Geneva International Conference Centre organized a Cultural week on the 10th Anniversary of the International NGO Forum on the Economic, Social and Cultural Rights of Woman with the theme ‘Eradication of Extreme Poverty of Women in a bit to contribute to the realization of Sustainable Development Goals’. The three days event which ended in a Cultural jamboree, addressed key issues pertaining to women’s economic empowerment which included; “Empowering women to overcome extreme Poverty “, Women and Sustainable Development, Women Local and Human Development and Women and Leadership. The Conference brought together high personalities to throw more light on how women can be mainstream into the development agender to combat poverty and contribute towards the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals. One clear message was passed across that culture instead of being a handicap to women’s emancipation and empowerment should become a tool to promote women’s economic development. The main speakers during the event included: HE Mr. Omar Zniber, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Morocco to the UN Office in Geneva and International some Organizations in Geneva ; Ms. Carolyn Rodrigues Birkett, Director, FAO Liaison Service United Nations in Geneva, Mr. Chongsi Ayeah Joseph Permanent Representative of CHRAPA to the UN in Geneva, Ms. Gaynel Curry, Advisor on Gender Equality and Women’s Rights to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), Ms. Louisa Bernal, Policy Advisor Policy advisor on trade and development (PNUD) Geneva., Ms. Marcia Canario de Oliveira, Counselor at the Permanent Mission of Brazil in charge of Human Rights and Gender, in Geneva and a host of others from around the world. The forum end with pertinent conclusion and recommendations to the UN member states and the international community for consideration and action
